Ms. Green does not awaken again. The next afternoon she dies in her hospital bed with her daughter, her son and her nurse by her side.
Her nurse sits with the family and tells them they can take their time being with their mother, and explains what will happen with the body. The chaplain, social worker and physicians are notified and come by as well to express their condolences and reassurances, in their own way. Each offers contact information if questions or concerns come up over the next weeks or months.
