Benefits

Anticipated benefits listed in this section of the consent form must be realistic and must derive directly and exclusively from the research. Benefits to the individual subject should be distinguished from benefits to others, the community, society, or scientific knowledge in general. If the individual subject will not benefit, then this should be explicitly stated. Free medical services, evaluations, and/or medications are not considered benefits of the research. Any benefits listed in this section of the consent form should also match those listed in the protocol. Payments to the subject may not be listed as benefits. The description of anticipated benefits must not be overstated or be misleading.
